Barn Owl

Pale face with dark eyes. Upperparts are golden-brown with gray, underparts are white with small dark spots.

Farmland, grassland, and other open country with scattered trees and buildings.

Small mammals, especially voles, mice, and shrews.

Hunts mostly at night by flying low and slowly over fields.

Found on every continent except Antarctica.

The Barn Owl is easily recognized by its heart-shaped face and ghostly white underparts. It is one of the most widespread owl species.
